One of Japan's most controversial Wrestlers, Akira Maeda's antics inside (and outside) of the ring continue to be talked about decades after the hot-heated shooter hung up his Wrestling boots.

Revolting against Antonio Inoki's vision of Strong Style, Maeda left New Japan to found the UWF Japan: a brand-new promotion that ushered in a rekindled fascination with shoot style matches across the country. Established Wrestlers such as Satoru Sayama, Nobuhiko Takada, Kazuo Yamazaki and submission master Yoshiaki Fujiwara all made their exile to UWF in search of a more-realistic form of Professional Wrestling that emphasized realistic bouts between Japan's rising stars.
