As time went on and new ship technologies were developed, early Phoenix ships such as the Griffon became obselete and were replaced by newer models. Several Griffon models were retired, but eventually found themselves being redeployed as industrials. In this role, they were refit with up to date technology, as well as a generous compliment of cargo containers.
