The G-Class W463, 1st generation was in production from 1990 to 2018, when it was substituted by the W463, 2nd generation (some media erroneously refer to this model as the W464). The model started as G-Wagen but in 1994 the name was changed to G-Class. The vehicle is manufactured by Magna Steyr in Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Curiously there is a different G-Class also being sold (W461) since 1992. While the W463 is catered to the consumers who seek more creature comforts and better driving dynamics, the W461 is built specifically for military, public authorities, and non-governmental organisations. Both the W463 and the W461, are evolutions of the older W460, which entered the market in 1979. Because the W461 and the W463 1st generation look very similar possible Era Car models of the W461 version will also be listed under this category.
