-The Eastern Front was one of the most extensive theaters of war, stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. The Eastern Front was a battleground between Russia, Germany, Austria-Hungary and the Ottoman Empire. It was the front where the ownership of valuable resources such as oil and grain was decided. The fighting took place between Russia (Entente) and the Central Powers. The Eastern Front played a decisive role in the victory of the Allies. By drawing significant forces of German troops, the offensives at Paris and Verdun were thwarted, which prevented France from being taken out of the war and Germany from being finished.
