About the trolleybus model itself (in brief):

ZiU-682 (also ZiU-9) is a Soviet and Russian high-floor trolleybus of large capacity for intracity passenger transportation. This trolleybus model was in serial production from 1972 to 2015, having undergone several modifications. ZiU-9 became the most mass-produced trolleybus in the world, it is operated in many cities of the former Soviet Union and in some European and South American cities. This trolleybus often appeared in Soviet films, and a number of monuments in cities of the former USSR[⇨] were dedicated to it. However, some researchers of public transportation note that in the XXI century ZiU-9 is outdated, and trolleybus companies need to purchase new rolling stock to replace the old vehicles.

In 2009 Trolza company developed a modified ZiU-682G - 016.07 with the control system - TrSU “Chergos” instead of the standard contactor rheostat. Existing copies: Izhevsk - 2 cars, Murmansk - 3 cars.
