About

I was unable to find any mod that simply gives the option to "terraform" the terrain without the implementation of new mechanics. That is why I created this myself.

TerraIn adds all the soil tiles, the water tiles and NOW rock walls purely for visual enhancement, allowing you to customize and beautify your colony's environment with minimal investments.

Soil tiles included:
  • Soil
  • Rich soil
  • Gravel
  • Mud
  • Mossy soil (lichen-covered soil)
  • Marshy soil
  • Sand
  • Soft sand
  • Ice

Water tiles included:
  • Deep water
  • Deep ocean water
  • Chest-deep moving water
  • Shallow water
  • Shallow ocean water
  • Shallow moving water
  • Marsh

Rock walls included:
  • Granite
  • Sandstone
  • Limestone
  • Marble
  • Slate

Items:
  • Dig spot --> used to dig up "soil".
  • Botany bench --> Used to destroy stone to get "soil" and combine "soil" and "fertilizer" to "rich soil".
  • Composter --> Makes "fertilizer" from plantmatter. Be sure to check the item filter so you don't put in something you can't miss. The fertilizer will be made in time, just like how beers work.

These are locked behind the research "agriculture".

Compatibility

Should work with every mod and every texture pack out there. Also added plantmatter with the right tags will be able to be composted. Do let me know if an issue arises.

Bugs

When a pawn gets stuck while building deep water and is standing on a blueprint tile for deep water this will spam errors like crazy. Because he is trying to do the only job he can (blueprint he is standing on) but can not complete it. To fix this just pauze the game, remove the blueprint underneath him (no more errors) and free your pawn. Nothing i can do about it now and to be honest don't think it will be.

My advise when building "Deep" water of any kind is to dig 1 tile adjacent to the other deep water!

More

If you have some recommendations on how to implement this beter, like cost, research, etc... . Please inform, I am open to adjustments/adaptations.

@ [59er]ʕ•ᴥ•ʔDungeonmaster that's a cheat mod buddy. At that point just enable dev mode.

Works with 1.6, but it throws an xml error.

"XML error: <placingDraggableDimensions>1</placingDraggableDimensions> doesn't correspond to any field in type ThingDef. Context: <ThingDef" in 10 different spots.

Can be fixed by searching and replacing <placingDraggableDimensions>1</placingDraggableDimensions> with nothing in the TerraIn_Floor.xml file located in 1.5/Patches within the mods folder. There is only once instance of it to remove.

Mod works just fine without it, and you can click and drag, everything that I've tried so far.

All the terrains are functional.

How functional is this terrain compared to the vanilla terrain? I see from a previous comment that water can't be used for fishing. But is everything else functional? Can you farm on the soil placed by this mod or is it, as the description suggests, purely decorative? Thanks!

I'm liking the improvements you've made to the mod. Is there any reason a dig spot receives a penalty when outdoors? Isn't this where you should be digging up soil?

Let me know if there still is a problem :)
