This Looks amazing for a start map,
My comments are just for added realism, Also You might want to think about adding a resource rich version As some of the resources are quite spread out
Maybe some oasis's with oil/Coal under them from thousands of years of plant growth and decay
, And rivers with some Iron Sediment in them, running down from the mountains,
Take inspiration from other Map Makers, every bit helps
Your on the right track
It looks like the sahara desert.
I might mention that is more likley an ocean than a lake so fertile area Around it does not make any sense to me.
Maybe add a river or something and have the fertile land around that, to make it more realistic,
after all Salt kills crops.
