Megurigaoka, Kanagawa, Japan - Project Gurashi

描述
This is a mod attempting to bring the fictional city of Megurigaoka, Japan from the series "Gakkou Gurashi!" (School-Live) into Project Zomboid.

Gakkou Gurashi is a school zombie apocalypse anime/manga series following a group of students who survive within their high school, which, along with the rest of Megurigaoka City, the Project Gurashi team is attempting to recreate. For people unfamiliar with the series, the map will be akin to a sprawling and desolate concrete jungle, designed with verticality in mind, which hopefully will be a refreshing departure from rural 1993 Knox County.

We present you the "School Live!" project, in which we are going to make the city of Megurigaoka cell by cell, by using all the possible references we've found, and a sprinkle of our imagination.

As of now, 6 cells of the map are published, 2 of which being wilderness. In total, there are 4 cells of urban city. Our heart and souls went into this project, so please enjoy it as much as you can, and please give feedback.

A Few Things to Note
  • PLEASE NOTE: The default sandbox settings for Apocalypse and Survivor have been overwritten by the mod. The intended playstyle and settings for this map are our Apocalypse settings, but survivor works as well if you want that playstyle. By default, the zombie population is set to 3x - this is not a mistake. The zombie spawns are configured to work this way so that we have a larger range of possible zombie populations in certain parts of the map. 3x population does not mean insane population everywhere, and setting the population lower will cause lower spawn rates than intended.
  • This map is very different from Knox County, in that you cannot and should not kill every zombie in your path. Stealth and retreats are both very important strategies in this map. If you go into this expecting to kill everything in your path, you will be frustrated and disappointed.
  • The end goal of the project is nearly a 400 cell city, flushed full of housing, commercial and industrial districts, bunkers, research labs, and an entire environmental story to tell as you follow the trails left by other survivors. This is not an extension of Knox County, and it never will be, but it will be its own standalone experience, configured precisely, and having the map include an overhaul for immersion into 2013 Japan and the world of Gakkou Gurashi.
  • Many mods may be compatible with this mod. Certain mods may cause issues or break various aspects of the map/experience. As a result, we recommend mainly using quality of life mods, and nothing too big.

Just read the manga and loved it, is there anywhere I can read about how you're reconstructing the city? Also are you planning Japanese compatibility?

Update honestly is happening as soon as we get it done. We've just been working on one cell as well as overhauling some zombie mechanics, but this one new cell has as many buildings as all of the previous cells combined, so it's been a lot of work. I'd like to move downtown more, but with the current team size, denser areas of the map just take so long to make. The unofficial build 42 map editor is also pretty weird to use and will have a lot of bugs, but I can say that the next downtown cell we could make would have a lot of much taller buildings than we've made so far.

Would be cool to also have a hotel of some sort in the more urban area I guess
Might be especially useful if you play with bandits/week one mod as hotels are basically free to stay at if some mfr burns ur base with arson event of sth like that happens

Most likely none, Japanese gun laws are extremely strict, so we made an effort to restrict gun use in this map as much as possible. The map is mostly balanced with that in mind, so it's recommended to not use any firearm mods, but you could use them if you really wanted to

may i ask something? What firearm mod should we use for immersion and if not any, is VFE compatible?

It's still updating! We're slowly working on it, but still working on it. We plan to update this month or next month
