CAI FB-06 "Xericeps"

One of the first armed aircraft produced for the Imperial Navy, these bulky attack planes were an attempt to create a multirole aircraft that could perform any duties required of it as needed. With a pilot and a defensive gunner, they are capable of projecting fire both forwards at their targets and in a wide arc around them at any would-be interceptors, a pairing that has allowed them to remain useful in an air superiority role despite advances made since their production. The true value of the Xericeps to the escort carriers and second line airbases that still field them however is its enormous central bomb bay, a tremendous weight that requires almost half the aircraft's size to consist of engine in order to stay mobile. Able to carry a variety of payloads, they are most commonly deployed with the heavy "Megalania" naval mine, flying low to drop them in the expected avenues of enemy advance. Braver pilots are known to aggressively "dive" with their aircraft to deploy these weapons as close to the enemy as possible, beating a swift retreat in time for their gunners to witness the detonation behind them.
