Nagoya Municipal Subway 6050 Series / 名古屋市交通局6050形

The 6050 Series (6050形) is a subway vehicle operated by Nagoya Municipal Subway on the Sakura-dori Line.

Produced between 2009 and 2010, the 6050 series is the second generation of Sakura-dori line vehicles. It follows a similar exterior design to the 6000 series but has been modified for a sharper look. A newer model of running equipment like from Toyo Denki was installed, as a result, both leading cars became trailer cars while all middle cars are powered. The performance of the series is basically identical to the 6000 series, as it will not be a replacement but additional sets to expand the fleet. Cantilever style long seats are installed in the interior, and the width of each seat was slightly increased. To improve accessibility, wheelchair spaces were expanded from being installed on leading cars only to every car in the formation. 6 car formations were planned to expand capacity on the Sakura-dori Line, and there were also plans for the existing 6000 series sets to be extended. However, after further review of ridership forecasts and budget reductions, it was revised down to 5 cars. A total of 4 sets were built as additional vehicles for the extension between Nonami and Tokushige Station. In 2020, three sets were modified to support displays and automated announcements in Korean and Chinese, in addition to Japanese and English.
