AT-TE Walker (Vanilla, Scripted)

描述
This is a Steam-exclusive release. Mod.io version is not available.

"Those walkers are designed for terrain, not space!"
(c)

History

There are very, very few walkers as iconic as Rothana's All Terrain Tactical Enforcer. Designed as mining machines before the war, they were rapidly adapted into a combat role as... well, as an SPG/IFV combination. Being by far the most numerous heavy ground vehicle in the early days of the war, AT-TE's were thrown into every imaginable environment: sands of Ryloth, ice and snow of Alzoc III, jungles of Felucia, and even asteroids of the Bothawui system. Despite lacking speed, AT-TE's managed to perform even the job of a breakthrough tank well... or at least well enough until better options arrived. By the end of the Clone Wars, Tactical Enforcers were mostly left to their original IFV / Mobile Command Center roles. Empire did continue to use available walkers for the first few years, but AT-AT program was already on the horizon. Old machines found home with various gangs, pirates, criminal organizations, as well as Rebels, inventors and just about anyone capable of repairing and maintaining a decade old rusting walker.

Pros: main turret has good articulation, infinite range, fully pressurized cabin, good amount of seats on board.
Cons: rest of the armament is fixed in place, constantly gets stuck, suffers on every incline, your grandma can probably outrun one of these.

Additional Notes:
  • Auxiliary programmable blocks are turned off by default to improve performance. If you still desire to use them - access the terminal and toggle the group "Programmable Blocks" on. Programmable blocks responsible for the walking script are always running and shall NOT be turned off.
  • If it wasn't obvious - yes, you need to enable scripts in your world to use this model.
  • Actual walking is controlled through the Remote Control. Moving forwards is "W", backwards is "S", and turning the whole walker is done via gyroscopes (basically mouse-aimed).
  • I tried my best to make the walking cycle as smooth as I could, but it's not flawless by any means. So feel free to play around with it, just be warned - this model runs 3 separate scripts at once for each pair of legs respectively. Keep that in mind if you are going to make changes to Custom Data.
  • Also, this thing does come equipped with Ore Detectors. They were used for aesthetic purposes, but I guess you could go to AT-TE roots and go mine some spice.

Visual References:
  • Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002)
  • Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels (2005)
  • DICE Battlefront II (2017)
  • various Lucasfilm promo shots

SPECIAL THANKS:

This is a Steam-exclusive release, as console versions (as to the best of my knowledge) don't support scripts in private worlds. I don't want to release a non-functional dummy.

@Normal Yeah, those are the features of Advanced Walker Script II, as it's primary focus is on 2-legged walkers and mechs. I didn't try to remove or disable those features as I found them quite funny myself.

I didn't even try it until just now but, to my amazement: Press space and the walker jumps. Hold C and it crouches. Was it intentional or already part of the script? Dunno but it's amazing either way.

@Austin_Legend it's coming soon... I promise...

@Elekdrag thanks mate! And no - tri-leg designs barely work in real world, let alone Space Engineers. So the best you'll see from anyone is a static prop.

@francescoallegrezza1.0 easy one - no, I am not.

Elekdrag 2024 年 12 月 14 日 上午 11:56
Would you try making a Octuptarra Tri-Droid?
Elekdrag 2024 年 12 月 14 日 上午 11:56
The walking is greatly engineered!!!
