Caladon Gunboat

"Developed as a highly adaptable and cheap platform to fulfill a variety of roles within the APF Fleet the Caladon makes up a majority of the logistical backbone of the APF. Caladon class vessels fulfill many roles such as convoy escort, planetary defense, patrol, fighter tending, cargo transport, and more. Similar to the older mink class vessels the Caladon lacks a jump drive and relies on other ships for long range transport. It is specially designed to work alongside modern APF support cruisers for these longer range operations. While many versions include weapons the Caladon is not intended for front line combat, acting more as a cheap escort or guard vessel for logistical assets.

The gunboat variant is most commonly seen in convoy escort roles thanks to its heavy anti air armament of 4 medium AA guns, and several machine guns. Well less advanced than the VLS variant it also cheaper and simpler to produce or convert from a different variants hull."
