December 2024 Note: This is for Build 41 only, the Build 42 update will come in the future!

Requires (fast and easy) custom installation, please read the whole description.

A ready to play configuration of mods, load order, custom sandbox settings, and server settings for you and your friends is included. Everybody has their mod collection but I have not seen anyone share their custom settings, which are just as important.

I have tried to create a believable scenario of survival in the spring of the year following the apocalypse. A middle ground between the "as the outbreak happens" nature of the vanilla Project Zomboid and the 10 Years Later modded scenario. Expect harder than vanilla gameplay with an eroded world, scarce supplies, and lack of clean water and electricity from the start.

THIS IS NOT A MODPACK.
All of the mods here are uploaded on the Steam Workshop and simply listed in my 'Vanilla Plus Plus Plus' collection. Steam allows you to install full collections with a single click. Full credit goes to the authors who have worked to make this game better for all of us. Collection includes lore-friendly and high quality mods that enhance every aspect of the game, from the interface and quality of life to vehicles and weapons. If your favourite mod is not in the collection, it is likely not intended to be used with the collection or an alternative implementation has been included (e.g. vehicle mods come to mind). If you have enjoyed any of my mods, I am sure you will enjoy these custom settings.

INSTALLATION:

STEP 1 - SUBSCRIBE TO THIS MOD:

Do NOT enable this in your in-game 'Mods'! This will do nothing.

OPTIONAL BUT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Have you allocated more RAM for the game?

STEP 2 - DOWNLOAD MOD COLLECTION:

Luckily Steam allows you to download an entire collection in one click. Go to the 'Vanilla Plus Plus Plus' collection, and click "Subscribe to All".
You can either disable all of your mods by allowing my collection to replace your entire subscription list, or just click "add to". Mods should be downloading now.

Step 3 - ENABLE MOD MANAGER (If you haven't already):

Open game, click 'Mods', make sure Mod Manager and Mod Manager Server are enabled. You may disable everything else now for faster loading times, if you like. Click Apply. Wait for game/Lua to reload, then exit game. If any mods have not started a download for some reason, they should definitely do that by now.

STEP 4 - INSTALL THIS MOD'S SETTINGS & LOAD ORDER FILES:

Go to your Steam directory for Project Z mods, e.g:

...Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600

(IF DEFAULT INSTALLATION FOR STEAM)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600

You will see folders with names of numbers, these are mod IDs. Find the folder with the mod ID for this mod: 3309098432
Open the folder, see the folders called 'Lua', 'Sandbox Presets', 'Server' within "3309098432\mods\unlockkAYearLater\Zomboid".

Your Configurations Location:
Go to Project Z directory for e.g. savegame files, server files, etc.
By default it will be C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Zomboid
Find the folders 'Lua', 'Sandbox Presets', 'Server'.

Lua:
From this mod's Lua folder (within "3309098432\mods\unlockkAYearLater\Zomboid\Lua"), see the two files that correspond to 'saved_modlists_server unlockk.txt, saved_modlists unlockk.txt' in your Lua directory.
Open each file, copy their contents with the exception of the first line (VERSION=) to the end of your 'saved_modlists_server.txt' and 'saved_modlists.txt'.

If you don't have those two files, or your two files are completely empty, you can just copy my whole files and remove the 'unlockk' at the end of their names or if you just want to overwrite your existing modlists for whatever reason.

Sandbox Presets, Server:
Place the contents of this mod's Sandbox Presets (1 file) and Server (3 files) folder into the corresponding Sandbox Presets folder and Server folder in e.g. C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Zomboid\.

Step 5 - PLAY.

You are done! Open the game, click 'Mods':
Choose from the preset "unlockkBaseSingleV1" for singleplayer. Singleplayer sandbox setting preset is called "unlockkSingleV1".

If you are playing multiplayer, choose the "unlockkBaseMultV1" preset in 'Mods'. In 'Host' the server is called unlockkServerMultV1.

Note, not all of the mods or mod files from the collection are automatically enabled! That is ok and intended. Also please check the "Updates" below if there are any other mods to have a look at before you play.

CUSTOM SETTINGS NOTES:
Some of the settings have been adjusted based on me playing the game for a very long time... There are reasons why e.g. zombies 'dragging you down' (instakill) is disabled, or why the horde rally group size is set to zero.

Note, I have disabled infection mortality for both the single player and multiplayer! Feel free to enable this, personally I have mods to make non-lethal infections more severe included. In Severe Non-Lethal Infections sandbox you can tick to make bites-only lethal, if you'd prefer. You have to disable the mod to have vanilla lethality.

The multiplayer setup has a few more quality of life mods and the quantity of zombies is slightly increased. I have intended this for a 2-4 people cooperative playthrough, I suggest increasing the zombie amount to what you like. You may also need to check a few connectivity & privacy settings if you intend to host a public server and not just for your Steam friends (also PvP, etc.).

Every Texture Optimized: I have the 'performance' version enabled. If you would like to enable other versions of this, please note the original location in the load order!

Trash & Corpses: Multiplayer is trash only, and singleplayer is the non-skeleton version to avoid issues. In multiplayer the corpses that spawn seem to de-sync (and become unlootable or appear like they're alive on the floor), and in the skeleton version, skeletons spawn alive sometimes because of Random Zombies mod. I really recommend playing with Random Zombies rather than trying to get the skeleton corpse "decor" working.

UPDATES:
Given the manual install nature of this, it will be a bit harder to update for both myself and you, the user. Any quick updates, e.g. I find a good mod to include, I shall list here so you can subscribe & activate it, maybe tweak some custom settings yourself.

-Enable 'Longer Stats' & leave at end of load order to make well fed and drunkenness last longer. Disable calories/nutrition multiplier, set fire multiplier to 1.0, and tiredness multiplier to 0.00 to prevent it affecting these factors.

-Enable 'Offroad go brr' to balance vehicle performance off-road.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
-You might see something saying "MutiesContextMenuIconsRedrawed" is missing. The author changed the mod name to "MutiesContextMenuIconsRedrawn" after I uploaded this. Just find & activate the mod file, don't worry.

IF YOU LAUNCHED THE GAME IN DEBUG MODE: Only choose unlockkDebugSingleV1, the only difference is "Worn Out Zombies" by spoon is disabled, that mod seems to not like clothing mods and will prevent the game from launching in debug (i.e. black screen on start or stuck in reloading lua). Don't play your game in debug I guess. In-game everything works perfectly.

@domesticdeedo If you are on build 41, then yeah it would work.

Hello, will your settings properly work if I don't upload every single mod you had in your collection and instead do a mixed one with my mods and your settings for the ones I will be using from your collection? I didn't change any setting from my mods whatsoever so I don't have any preset I will be losing. I just want to use your settings without being limited to your collection.
