The SCAR (short for Special Operations Forces Combat Assault Rifle) is a modular, compact, lightweight, select-fire rifle platform manufactured by FN Herstal. The FN SCAR-H (SCAR 17, Mk 17) is the variant which is chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO. The SCAR series of rifles were manufactured to satisfy the requirements for the SCAR competition held by the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).

- Replaces SCAR/Desert Rifle.
