KTM-5 (71-605)

描述
KTM-5 (model 71-605) is a Soviet- and Russian-built high-floor four-axle single-ended tram car. The first prototypes of this tram car were built in 1963 at the Ust'-Katav Carriage Plant (UKVZ), and serial production continued from 1969 to 1997. This model of tram cars produced by UKVZ is better known under the name “KTM-5M3”, which was its official designation until a unified numbering of types of rolling stock was introduced in the USSR. The abbreviation “KTM” stood for “Kirov Motor Tram”, but after 1976, the abbreviation “KTM” unofficially refers to all subsequent serial models of UKVZ: tram cars of types 71-608, 71-619 and 71-623 (KTM-8, KTM-19 and KTM-23, respectively).

In total, almost 15 000 KTM-5M, KTM-5M3, 71-605, 71-605U and 71-605A cars of all modifications were built, which allowed them to become one of the most produced tram car models in the world. Since 1969 until the present day, they have been working with passengers in many tram services in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, as well as in parts of Latvia.

Basic characteristics:
  • Max speed: 75 km/h
  • Power: 4 × 45 kW
  • Max acceleration: 1.50 ms⁻²
  • Capacity: 122 standing, 46 seated
  • Length: 14.8 m
  • Gauges: standard 1435 mm and broad 1520 mm

Premade configurations:
  • Single
  • MU up to three units

Ah, I see the difference now, thanks for the explanation! Removed "mu" tag in the latest update.

Without "mu" tag - e.g. a bus. Screenshots 3 and 4 - same idea.6:49:59 - 1 second before departing in a dead-end - https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298203414
6:50:04 - just after departing - https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298203390 - you can see it goes with back facing forward - as appropriate - then it will reach another point of reversal and then go forward. So with no "mu" tag a bus or a tram can actually go back (in reverse mode).

Hello. Some screenshots to illistrate how "mu" tag works. Screenshots 1 and 2 - KTM-5 has arrived into dead-end stop. 6:35:59 - 1 second before going back - https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298202636 . 6:36:00 - goes back - https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3298202646 . You can see it instantly turns 180 degrees so it goes back with front cabin facing forward.

Yes KTM-5 systems in more recent years are mostly used as temporary shuttles with 2nd driver facing back. This is when a portion of the network is cut off from a loop so the tram can go back.. They were designed for work as 2- or 3-car systems all facing the same way and were used like this extensively in many cities. Not sure if they are still used like this but I'd think they are somewhere. You can see a couple photos here https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9A%D0%A2%D0%9C-5 . Will post a short video of how "mu" affects reversal later.

Tried with both mu tag and without, and didn't quite grasp the difference, so decided to let it be.

As for the last car facing backwards — it was intended, as most MU KTMs I have seen were this way (so that the driver could pull back without other track worker's help) , but I have now done a little bit more research and found that it's not required really. I will later update compositions and add a non-reversed last car variant.

And I just realized the two-car version also has the 2nd car facing backward, i.e. more like a shuttle than a true MU tram. Is this how you wanted it? A regular MU version may be good to have too.

Thank you, love it! https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3296350651 One other note, it may not be a good idea to use tag "mu" here. It has a special function where it flips the tram 180 degrees when the tram reverses. It is useful for metro and commuter trains or trams that have cabin and doors on both sides, but not trams with a single cabin. If you remove it, the tram will reverse as it would in real life.

Oh, seems I indeed put the mass in tonnes, despite scheme clearly saying it should be in kilos. Fixed, thank you!

Hello, great to see KTM-5 added to the workshop, thank you! One note, I think you put in the weight of 19 kg for the tram. This actually has a very negative effect on its ability to accelerate. You can read about maximum tractive value here: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2268014666 It's probably most efficient to use the actual empty mass of the tram here, I think it was around 18,650 kg.
