If you are still getting the ".dds" errors in the log, you may need to unsubscribe from the mod, make sure manually that all the files from the mod in the Steam workshop content folder are gone, and then resubscribe to the mod again to get the new files.
And do the same for the add-on mod if you are using it.
Actually, disregard ALL of my comments; I am even MORE confused than before. I tried running just this mod and Alpha Memes together with a Corporate Sadist ideoligion, and it worked fine. I guess you WON'T be getting a log tomorre. =(
Trust me, I am just as confused as you are. There's no reason that liking organ harvesting, death, and corpses should break theory research. When I get the log, I'll show it to Alpha Memes' developers as well.
I just tested everything else, and from what I've found, it's apparently one of the three precepts exclusive to Sadist. Those three Precepts are "Organ Use: Torturous;" "Death: Desired;" and "Corpses: Sublime." I'll provide a log with Theory Research ritual under the Sadist Meme tomorrow.
With a Corporate Supremacist Ideoligion with every Precept matching my old one except for those affected by Sadist, I got the Theory Research ritual to work. Expect a log soon.
Okay, I had an idea and I took it. I tested the Theory Research ritual on a Classic-Like preset ideoligion. It worked perfectly fine. The conflict must be not between mods but between the Theory Research mod and my custom Corporate Sadist Ideoligion. I'll keep testing this way.
Complex Jobs has been cleared. I'll keep testing to find the cause of the broken ritual.
On second thought, I'm just going with my usual mod-incompatibility search strategy. I just looked at my Ideoligion and was like, "$@!! That!" I also have a couple of suspects in my modpack. The first to be cleared was Minify Everything, which got a whole series of replacements specifically because it's been known to break modded buildings (especially vehicles). I'm testing Complex Jobs in this round of mods.
I'm having a similar issue to @Guineatown20806. The ritual intro card for the Theory Research window is almost completely blank, and when I forcibly commence the ritual with the Enter key, the time stays locked at "1 hour left," leaving my researcher stuck in an endless ritual. I shall test the precepts of my modpack immediately; I will get back to you with my findings (and hopefully a log).
