Bramalea Civic Centre

The Bramalea Civic Centre is the former City Hall for the City of Brampton Ontario, Canada. The building was designed by "Allward & Gouinlock and opened in 1972 as the Town Hall for the former Township of Chinguacousy as part of the larger Bramalea City Centre development. The construction of this building was at the developers expense as it was a condition for the construction of the Town of Bramalea. In 1974 the Township of Chinguacousy was merged with the neighbouring Town of Brampton and this building would then became City Hall for the City of Brampton until 1991 when the municipal government moved into its current city hall. Today the building is still in use serving as a community centre, and the Brampton district office of the Peel Region Public Health department. Up until 2023 this building was also home to the central branch of the Brampton Public Library but it was forced to relocate as Toronto Metropolitan University bought the space to be the home of a future medical school.
