The AT-RT is one of the first new generation combat walkers in the Galaxy. After centuries of oblivion, walkers, as combat vehicles, have again become of interest to the Ministry of Justice of the Old Republic (MUSR) and the local armed forces. It was assumed that one person in the AT-RT could replace an entire infantry squad, and a small detachment of two–legged vehicles could replace an infantry company with heavy weapons. It was also believed that the AT-RT would become an effective means of close-range reconnaissance and patrolling. Well, for the "pocket armies" of small planetary states, a light two-legged tank could well become the basis of armored forces. Unfortunately, one unfortunate incident crossed out the bright prospects of the project.
