Odakyu Series2300 EMU

The Odakyu Series 2300 was introduced in 1955. While the development of new limited express trains was under way, the Series 2300 was introduced as a drop in the service for the increased number of limited express trains in the Hakone area, which was in high demand. It was based on the Series 2200, which had been introduced the previous year, but inside the car was equipped with convertible reclining seats that lived up to its Romancecar name. However, four years later, when the new Romancecar SE Limited Express was introduced, it was downgraded and its four years of flowery Limited Express operation came to an end.
A notable feature of this train is that it has undergone two major downgrading conversions. The first modification took place in 1959, when the trains were converted to two-door semi-cross seats for semi-express and express services. The second conversion took place in 1963, when the trains were converted to three-door long seats.
The Odakyu Series 2320 was introduced in 1959. Based on the Series 2220 introduced the previous year, it was the first Odakyu train with double doors and semi-cross seats inside the car. It was mainly used for express services and weekend semi-special express services, but only four years later it was converted to three-door service and operated in the same way as other ABFM cars.
