The ship also possesses a large amount of missile defense capabilities, with 24 interceptor launchers and 2 18mm CIWS guns as well as decoys. While the ship has both deck space and sonar capabilities for mounting ASW weapons, they are not normally equipped due to limited ammunition capacity. Initially, the class featured a conventional cannon for shore bombardment and close-range combat duties, after the Tara Bay kaiju attacks the PKN Admiralty ordered all Baker class destroyers to be refitted with rail cannons. While concerns were raised about possibly overtaxing the ship's powerplant the refit eventually went through, with current analysis indicating that the engines are just barely enough to provide sufficient energy to the batteries.
