CAI DF-24 "Ikrandraco"

As aeronautics continued to advance, and the speed, range and striking power of bombers along with them, more and more of the Pydrinckian island chain became potential targets. Fearing the worst, the admiralty ordered an unusual new kind of aircraft; the "Defensive Fighter". With twin engines and a powerful armament, this design was intended to outrun all but the fastest of attackers and swiftly bring them down in short order. With twin defensive guns to ward off any more agile opponents, the Ikrandraco is poised to act as an unbreakable first line against those who with threaten the home islands. It is, of course, by pure coincidence that these very characteristics render it perfectly suited as a long-range bomber escort itself, ensuring thata the flying vengeace of Pydrinck will itself make it through.
