I couldn't really find a nice vanilla one, and I really hate the melee weapon trails, and the pipebombs' trails lasted too long.

Requirements are required believe it or not.
It should work with custom models as $attachment carries over via $includemodel. At least as long as the custom models have the finger bones, or maybe the game will auto-add them since anim_witch.mdl has it. who knows.

particle requirement has been switched to the custom melee trail so that people won't have to subscribe to the entire set of the good particle replacement if they don't want to. Special thanks to General Ecchi for the dingus update.

that's got to do with the game drawing blood decals on the high poly models when the witch slaps someone, not this particle that has minimal impact on memory use. workshop commenters not knowing what the hell they're talking about season 13

you might have either conflicting xdr animation or a witch model that has its own attack animation or didn't install the required mod

Well, shit, I just used the SDK to make this. I'll try decompiling the TLS anim to redo it sometime soon.

Just noticed now, there is an "issue" with this mod; this is using the old mauling animation from before The Last Stand, so she does not damage survivors on every claw swipe, instead it takes around 1.5s to damage an incapacitated survivor.

Should work with regular running slashes, but not "killing blow" since they edit the same animation.

There is an xdr version of facial witch expressions although I doubt it'll work since they change the animations.
