Band of Brothers Prologue - Currahee (Bootcamp)

The formation of America’s parachute infantry demanded a new kind of soldier—volunteers willing to endure the harshest training ever imposed by the Army. At Camp Toccoa, recruits of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment began a rigorous program designed to test their endurance, discipline, and resolve.

The training began with obstacle courses and long runs up Currahee Mountain, pushing men to their physical limits. Days were filled with live-fire exercises on the ranges, instruction in heavy weapons such as mortars and artillery, and endless drills intended to forge unit cohesion. The program culminated in full-scale combat simulations, where recruits learned to fight as a squad under pressure.

It was here that Easy Company was born—an experiment in airborne warfare that would soon be tested on the battlefields of Europe.
