The DR-221 represents the workhorse of the combat crafts in the Sentinel Series. Often accompanying squadrons for patrolling, escorting, assaulting, and other roles.

Equipped with 7 railguns in cluster formation, and several turrets of various types, the Elium is quick, agile, and though a bit of a glass cannon, is cheap to produce and field in short time as far as large ships go. The high numbers of the DR ships in use in the wider Sentinel fleet allows them to zip across the battlefield, spreading destruction in their wake.

While able to maintain elevation and atmo flight on Earth, it is not intended for higher grav zones.

Internal design allows for a crew of 4 with additional passengers of up to 4 should the need to transport others arise. Minimalist interior allows for efficient navigation and rapid response in emergency situations. Nestled CIC prevents bridge sniping during combat maneuvers.

The DR-221 Elium itself is one of only 4 ships presently named within its class/series. The ship was the final remaining ship during an excursion contact in Elium sector on the outer edges of the Artemis asteroid field. A larger than expected Sol expedition force had moved quickly in an effort to breach the asteroid field and enter Artemis. The single squadron that was patrolling the area at the time were woefully outnumbered and fought quite literally to the last man in an effort to stave off the assault.

By the time reinforcements had arrived, only a single Sol cruiser and a few smaller craft remained of the expedition force. Of the Sentinel squadron, only a single destroyer remained, the 221. It had been partially crippled on left side and lost all but two railguns and most of its turrets. The ship interior had been punctured and vented. The crew, of which only 1 of the four assigned to it, was piloting it while in a vac suit. He had sustained blunt trauma to his right femur and a broken rib from collision with floating debris inside the ship.

Presently Captain Michael Vamos, formally Lieutenant Vamos, commands the ship with a new crew and continues to patrol the sector.
