In regards to "that gun" having that description, I wrote it myself because I believed such a description better fit into Project Nexus than directly mentioning things from the Fallout universe. When I port weapons in from other games, I like to make them fit into the universe as best I can.
Example: some pistols like the .22 have the dot before the caliber, while others like the .357 revolver don't. Another is with descriptions like abbreviating .22 Long Rifle as .22 lr, or calling 5.56 revolver "that gun" as a nickname when it's really just a unique version of the 5.56 revolver because it is speculated to be the gun of the protagonist of FO2.
