So I go get the Gen2 and everything is fine? Or wait until Gen3 AI is fixed in like 2 years...

The GEN2 has no problems with energy. The answer came when I asked S397:
I think it's somewhat the same, the system between the two cars is completely different.
The issue is the AI don't lift and coast, so they don't save/re-gen power like the player would.
