Thanks to the success of the Varyag, OFS saw an opportunity to create a lighter version more adapted to dogfight and fighter combat. The R&D team simply took a Varyag and removed the powerful but heavy assault canon to replace it with more armor and 8 rocket tubes. The result is a nimble fighter with a better ammo capacity and the ability to disable opposing light crafts very quickly.
