Halo: Prevarication is a custom original campaign built on the Halo 3:ODST engine, utilizing Cutscenes, Voice Dialogue, and custom scripting.
The lore of Prevarication is also something the Halo community would consider a "Fracture" storyline. This is non-cannon to the max, for a full lore breakdown and background on the setting see below.

State of the Universe:

Humanity and the Alien race known as the covenant have formed a loose alliance after first contact five years ago.
During the first two years, a non aggression pact and border were established.
Even though the two governments stay true to this pact, both have undesirables and radical terror groups that commit crimes and pirate innocent civilians Human and Alien.
Small skirmishes between non-aligned forces and pirates have led to the Office Of Naval Intelligence to develop a new breed of warfighter.
The Spartans
Bio-Engineered super soldiers that have no known equal in combat, masters of any weapon and vehicle.
They are the best of the best.
But expensive, far too costly for practical use.
So in response, the UNSC funded a volunteer-only force using baseline augmentations.
"Helljumpers"
Named for their preferred insertion method (HEV Orbital Drop Pods)
Enhanced with better eyesight, Hearing, reaction times, and overall reflexes.
You are one of these volunteers.
After the Augmentations you were given any assignment of your choice.
CBRN was yours.
You trained to contain Biohazardous materials and viral outbreaks on frontier worlds, as a HAZOP operator you were ready for anything.
Until you saw the news feeds on the TV at the PX
3 Weeks ago a mysterious outbreak occurred on Earth, details are sketchy at best but it's the worst thing anyone human or alien has seen.
A planetary defense grid was established to stop anything from getting in or out.
North America, Eastern and Western Europe have been lost, with Africa on its way out.
Billions of lives gone in less than 9 days.
Your unit was called up and sent to Madrid, Spain.

Account of Operation Torchlight


Date: [October 19th, 2548]

Location: Madrid, Earth

It was chaos from the moment we touched down south of Madrid. Our mission seemed straightforward: secure the evacuation center and ensure safe passage for civilians and military personnel amidst escalating hostilities. But nothing could have prepared us for what we encountered.

The air was thick with tension as we set up our perimeter. The city had already seen its share of destruction, but what came next was beyond imagination. The Flood. A biological nightmare unleashed upon us. They hit us hard and fast, like a relentless tide. We fought back with everything we had, but they were relentless, infecting and transforming everyone in their path.

I watched as my comrades fell one by one, their faces contorted in agony as the Flood consumed them. I rallied those still standing, shouting orders over the screams and gunfire. We managed to hold our ground long enough to gather a group of civilians desperate for escape.

As the situation deteriorated, our extraction window narrowed. The transport was our only hope. I fought alone on our way through the streets littered with the infected and boarded the vehicle under a hail of gunfire and screeches that echoed in my mind long after we escaped.

The journey to safety felt like an eternity. The survivors were in shock, some wounded, others silently grieving for loved ones lost to the Flood's onslaught. I focused on maintaining order, ensuring everyone was accounted for and receiving medical attention.

Upon reaching safety, relief washed over us, tempered by the grim reality of what we had witnessed. The aftermath was haunting. My thoughts were with my men, their sacrifices felt in vain, so much lost for so little.

In the days following our escape, I learned that Madrid had been devastated by a tactical nuclear strike in a desperate attempt to halt the spread of the Flood. The decision weighed heavily on my mind, knowing the city lay in ruins, its streets forever haunted by the echoes of our battle.

Operation Torchlight taught me we are in fight against an enemy that knows no mercy, adapting and overcoming in the face of everything we could throw at it.
