Renfe Serie 101

The 101 series started as a subseries of the S/100. The main differences being the use of 1668mm bogies, use of 3kV instead of 25kV, and a lower maximum speed. These units were used on Euromed services on the Mediterranean Corridor from Barcelona to Valencia and Alicante. After the introduction of the variable gauge 130 series, the 101s were retired from service and reformed into normal S/100s. The 101 series classification doesn't exist anymore, but the actual trains are still in service as 100 series units.
