Sunset Gulch 2 (Alpha)

and welcome to Sunset Gulch, the 52nd State in the Union and home to one of the busiest rail corridors on the Blacktooth System!

Gm_sunsetgulch2 is a deluxe-sized Realistic Standard Gauge (RSG) map for Garry's Mod Trainbuild, intended as a reimagining of the classic gm_sunsetgulch. The whole map has been redesigned from scratch, with new locations, new features, and loads of improvements. It is currently in the alpha stages of development, with more content to be added over time.

This map requires Counter-Strike: Source and HL2: Episode 2! It also requires the addon Trakpak3 for the tracks, signals, etc.

Unlike previous trainbuild maps, Sunset Gulch 2 requires you to use the dispatch board in order to route trains.

Power-operated switches on the mainline can only be operated from the dispatch board. In addition, no switches on the mainline can be changed unless all signals covering them are placed in HOLD mode in the dispatch board.

It is highly recommended that you bind a key to open the dispatch board, for example:

It is also recommended you use Trakpak3's Signal Vision feature to help you learn the map's signal system. Press the key you choose for the bind, look at a signal, and release the key in order to get a print-out of what it means:

• 12 unique locations spanning 30 in-game miles (player scale) of mainline trackage

• Mainline is fully equipped with working signals and railroad crossings at grade

• Minimum mainline curve radius is 3072 units
  
• Working rotary dumper at Sandstone Power & Light

Much more to come as development continues!


Trains fall through certain pieces of track in singleplayer. This is a strange and obscure Source bug and I am investigating how to fix it. However, this problem does not exist in Multiplayer (dedicated servers).

Vehicles fall through the roads in certain places too. This problem is secondary in nature and will be fixed later as the roads get fleshed out.

You may find cosmetic bugs like holes in the world where the sky is visible. These will be ironed out as map development continues.
