Portable RTG

描述
About
A lightweight mod that adds a Portable RTG (radioisotope thermoelectric) power generator, and portable RTG lights. Designed to be easily relocated, or even brought on caravans. They take uranium as fuel and it takes years for that fuel to be consumed.

This power source is not intended to be more productive then normal existing generators, but the portability and fuel lifespan makes it perfect for remote drills or turrets, or mining lights.

Features:
  • Portable RTG - Produces 100w of energy, holds 15 uranium as fuel which lasts 3 years
  • Portable RTG light - Produces light without power, holds 5 uranium which lasts 4 years
  • RTG wall light - Same as above, using the new wall light mechanics

you could make it so that they heat up rooms and wouldnt work if the temperature is too hot. its unnecessary complexity, but would be very cool

80 years would still be short for uranium; natural uranium has a half-life of over 4 billion years. What I meant was that the game doesn't include plutonium, which real RTGs are made from. I'm pretty sure nobody has ever thought of using uranium in RTGs in real life, but it's the closest we've got in the game. I guess you could make it run on plutonium instead if the player has Rimatomics installed or something.

The fuel consumption is scaled for gameplay reasons of course. If they lasted for a realistic 80 years then they might as well be infinite, which I didn't like.

Sweet, this is a great companion to mods that add full-bore nuclear reactors for making lots of power from uranium. Spacer tech factions should be using these instead of diesel generators. Kind of funny having an RTG based on uranium only last for a few years, but it's definitely best to work with what's in the base game.
