Taisha [WIP]

描述
Taisha is a bomb-defusal map set in the Kansai region of Japan, where the terrorists are target hidden caches of VX Gas deployed by the rivaling Akunin Yakuza. Word has gotten around that these stashes were spotted at a local shrine and ryokan, and counter-terrorist forces have been dispatched to prevent further destruction to this quaint countryside.

Individual shoutouts to my close friends for helping me playtest many early iterations of the map, along with CoomInMyBoom, Xtrnkt, Lydran, and Deh0lise for detailed gameplay balancing. Special thanks to the folks at EagleOne for the playtests and the support in helping develop the map.

Taisha made it to Stage 2 of the Mapcore Big Adventures 2024 Contest, ranking within the top 30* of 250+ entries.

Just wanted to give another update on the map again: Since I last posted in April, I was in the process of redoing parts of the map and I have a compiled version of this map ready. However after taking some time off and focusing on other projects, I decided to revisit the map once again and gained new inspiration for fixing some of the map's flaws. This includes (but is not limited to) architecture fitting with map theme, unfair engagements, and inconsistent theming.

At the moment I am currently the only one working on the map, with the other collaborators preoccupied with their own projects. This will be a step back in the artpass as more of the redesigned buildings will barely have any art done for them, but I rather get a version of the map prepared for the inevitable artpass, which should pass along quickly since I'm confident with this version.

Thank you everyone for your continued support, and I hope my passion for the map can come through clearly with this upcoming version.

Hey everyone just wanted to give a little update on development so far. We've all slowed down since unfortunately not making Stage 3, but I am primarily looking to tweak some areas of the map and see what I can do personally to up my artpassing skills to be up to par. I can't guarantee any dates or planned deadlines, but the map is far from dead.

Sure, don't take my word for it and playtest it as much as you can! It flows pretty well imo, you are doing a great job.

Note aside, I've also checked and you were right, the food stand is not wallbangable. Besides that, I've noticed a clipping issue on sauna window, a minor issue.

Visually it is gonna look outstanding once its finished.

Thanks for the feedback! I've taken the effort to widen the mid engagement so we'll see how that affects gameplay, it's been a while since I've run a proper playtest so I'll make sure to get that assessed ASAP. I could've sworn the food stand wasn't wallbangable a lot but maybe I'm mistaken. But thanks for checking out the map!

I liked the drop to sauna and the round temple bombsite, and of course, those awesome models. Congratulations.

I haven't playtested it with players so I can't afirm it, but I felt like middle was too narrow for the amount of activity that could be going on there. I am not sure either about the food truck being wallbangable.

Looking forward to seeing it complete, looks pretty nice!
