描述

The BT-42 was essentially a conversion of captured BT-7 tanks that involved a turret replacement to mount a British 4.5-inch howitzer that was provided as military aid during Winter War. A total of 18 tanks was converted in such a way by 1943.

Intended to be used against Soviet armor, it ultimately proved to be not very effective at this role, but due, to a lack of better vehicles, it was still used even when German StuG's were delivered to frontline units.

Features:

A fast moving tank with a very slowly moving turret and very slow reload time.
114mm howitzer (using German 150mm sIG 33 ammunition as a placeholder) with no coaxial or hull machine guns.
3-man crew: driver, gunner and commander.
