Following the conclusion of the First Colony War, the Kursu Sovereignty would hedge its bets on the KMX-7 Prototype Universal Hull (PUH), allowing for inter-compatibility between all ship classes built on its frame. Though with the first commissioned ship class, the Unglaus-Class Frigate, the first substantial prototype came along - being the K'aLoung-Class Surveyor, which was a variant of the Unglaus and sported a new type of nacelle. Four sets of warp rings, allowing the vessel to project the forward sets slightly ahead in time using a Temporal Buffer Coefficient Drive housed within the engineering hull, letting the vessel stretch out spacetime very briefly before letting it close in on itself and sending the ship forward on a huge ripple in spacetime. More akin to a subspace slingshot than a warp drive, the accuracy would leave a lot to be desired and would not be in use when flying in fleets due to that unpredictability.

The USS K'aLoung would launch two more prototype vessels into service with its configuration following very successful tests of deep-space exploration and dodging of incoming attacks while giving an early warning to defenders to ready themselves.

Because of its unusual measure of propulsion, its nacelles had to be very spaced apart to maintain stability during the collapsing of spacetime - to spread the effect over a wider area so it did not cause too much strain on the vessel's pylons.
