The Desolation of Europe is a mod that aims to recreate the events of the Thirty Years War in Hearts of Iron IV. The mod begins on January 1st, 1615 and currently has content to 1625 for nations on the select screen. The aim is for an eventual 1648 end date. The mod revolves around Europe's affairs and models the basic stages of the war, assuming historical paths are played, but also includes very interesting pieces of history in Asia and the Americas, albeit them not being the forefront focus.

Note: Whilst it is impossible to fully recreate the Early Modern Era inside of Hoi4, (and EUIV/EUV exists) I have made this for fun. This is a solo project I have worked on with no outside help and this is also the first Hoi4 mod I have ever made, so expect randomly released updates, and please do point out any bugs.

I have created the mod with ALL DLC enabled EXCLUDING Trial of Allegiance, Gotterdammerung and Graveyard of Empires. Please disable the three if you have them. Some other dlc may or may not be vital, but try at your own peril.

- French Path to topple the Edict of Nantes and become fully Catholic/Huguenot
- English Path to create a constitutional monarchy and contain the king with Parliament
- Bohemian Path to convince John George I of Saxony to take the Bohemian Crown
- Bavarian Path to usurp the title of Holy Roman Emperor from Habsburg Austria
- Dutch Path to sway opinion against the House of Orange for Johan van Oldenbarnevelt
- Spanish path to unite a Kingdom of Iberia



As briefly stated, the goal for this mod is to last to 1648. Updates will be in phases, vaguely 1615-1625, 1625-1635 and 1635-1648. Europe is the main focus for the mod, revolving around its war, but the rest of the world will not be forgotten, such as adding certain items including but not limited to:

- The Ottoman Peak
- Qing Conquest of China
- Vietnamese Civil War
- Stabilisation of Romanov Russia
- Oirat khanates emerging
- Savafid wars
- The Mali rump states and Moroccan influence
- Wars in Abyssinia and the Sudan
- 1627 Mughal Succession War
- Tokugawa Establishment
- First Nation content in the Americas
- Colonial focus trees
- More geography ( Lake Tulare, Mediterranean Islands, South Pacific, etc)

And a great deal of polish!

What if my game has a bug/crashes?

When will there be content for (random country)?

I can't say exactly, as it is just me working on whatever nation seems to need content the most, or by popular demand.

Will there be a separate map preset?

Possibly, but I plan to edit the map more so that would come in the future.

Does the mod work with other mods?

It should work with most minor mods, such as Player-led-peace-conferences, state transfer tool, most most style mods, but probably not with any major mods, try at your own risk.
