The Konigsee class was developed by concentrating all main artillery from the S. Maczek-class battleships onto the bow. The secondary battery was also increased in both number and caliber, but the anti-aircraft armament was significantly reduced. A few ships of this class served in active duty, but the rapid pace of technological advancement during that era quickly rendered them obsolete. Due to limited budgets allocated to ships of this displacement, the class was never modernized.
