Odakyu 2000 Series / 小田急2000形

The 2000 Series (2000形) is an EMU operated by Odakyu Electric Railway on commuter services in Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture.

The result of Odakyu's experimentation with extra-wide doors, the 2000 series aimed to improve boarding efficiency without reducing the number of seats. Introduced intermittently from 1995-2001 as 8-car sets were needed to alleviate capacity restraints of previous 6-car stock. The type primarily operates as local services on the Odawara and Tama lines, occasionally running as express and semi-express services in cases of unexpected disruptions. 72 cars in 9 formations were produced, with all remaining in service.

Maximum design speeds are used, operational speeds are 100km/h on Odakyu Lines. Capacity is calculated using 200% crush, which is a common occurrence on commuter lines in Greater Tokyo.
