-Please note this type has been retired from service as of May 2025 and will no longer receive active updates.

The 255 Series (255系) is an EMU operated by JR East on Limited Express services.

Designed to serve both intercity passengers and tourists travelling to the Bōsō Peninsular from Tokyo, the 255 series aimed to improve the competitiveness of rail against the expansion of road infrastructure in the region. Nicknamed "Bōsō View Express", the new type took over operations from the JNR-era 183 series in 1993. 45 cars were produced in 5 9-car sets, ultilized on Limited Express Shiosai, Wakashio, and Sazanami services. The 255 series are scheduled to be retired from regular operations on March 15, 2024 after 30 years of service.

-Update: Regular service of the type has ended, but it continues to see some use as seasonal trains or as a spare car, it is easy to distinguish services operated by the 255 series as no other type in the region offers a green car.

Shinkansen trains will be included in my JR collections and they are already in the works!

Great to see someone making Japanese rolling stock again, thanks! I hope you end up making shinkansen trains also, as a lot of the stuff on the workshop, aside from N700, has wrong data and the old mod schema from beginning of the game.
