Genetic Slugpups

描述
When hibernating with full food, there is a chance that a slugpup will spawn in the den next cycle. The pups should be a similar color to the parents, unless this option is turned off. There is also a special exception for Artificer.

The options menu allows you to pick the percent chance of pups spawning, the maximum number of pups that can spawn, which slugcats can spawn pups and many other things. There is also a choice to turn on random colors. This will allow for more personality variation but the pups will not look like their parents.

This mod was suggested by Puggicorn and thayneironworks.

Please let me know if anything is wrong.

**Warning: Slugpups may break Saint
Also, this has come up a few times so, having both Pups+ and Unshackled-Coop enabled makes tundra pups crash the game. So be careful about that.


Compatibility with other mods:
-Multiplayer: Can chose how many parents are needed for a pup to spawn (default is 1)
(The following can be turned off in options)
-Pups+: Variants will match their parents (example: Hunter will have HunterPups)
-The Varmint will spawn aquatic pups if pups+ is enabled
-The Champion spawns rotund pups if pups+ is enabled
-The Forager spawns rotund and tundra pups if pups+ is enabled
-BeeCat: BeePups spawn if playing as BeeCat.
-The Stalker, The Reaper, and The Watcher spawn Stalkerpups if The Stalker and PupBase are enabled
-The Outsider spawns Mothpups
-Any slugcat mods can register which types of pups+ or PupBase pups should be spawned


Most Recent Updates:
-fixed Player 1 always being chosen as the parent if playing with multiple players
-Made it so The Outsider spawns Mothpups


Known Bugs:
-food pips will not be consumed at all if you have any extra pips with rotund world
-pup mods do not work in Rain Meadow (or maybe they do now?)

@Shrimp, I'm so glad you like it!
It isn't supposed to always pick player 1. Turns out I did something silly with the code that was causing that. It was picking a "chosen parent" and then just ignoring that choice, whoops! Thank you for letting me know! It shouldn't be too hard to fix, so hopefully I will be able to update it soon.

I love this mod! My friends and I use it whenever we play together but that has made us notice something. Whenever a pup is spawned, no matter what one of it's parents is player 1. If used with Pups+ the pup variant will also match player 1. Would love to see an update eventually where others such as player 2 and 3 together could have their own pup and that the compatibility with Pups+ would choose the variant between the two parents. (Ex. If parent 1 is Saint and parent 2 is hunter it would then choose between a hunter and tundra pup for the outcome). Love the mod even if it doesn't ever get updated like that, it's a must when we play! <3

@LucineDaBee, It depends how much you know about programming/modding, but it wouldn't be too complicated to make a mod that's just a random change to spawn a creature every time the player sleeps in a shelter. If you wanted to learn, it would probably be a good first project!

I don't plan to update this mod for the time being. Its already a bit bloated and I worry about over complicating it by adding even more.

I love the genetic slugpups mod. Im not sure if youre updating any more, but i was wondering if there was a way to make other things have a chance to spawn in shelters too. The scavalution mod adds Scavenger pups and i wanted to make them able to spawn in. if youre not updating any more, is there a way i could homebrew the code myself?

@Turquoise Cat the glitch first happened with random Buff, and I think it might did something, what idk but it doesn't seem to be a problem with genetic Slugpups. from what Random buffs exception logs say, it has something to do with a null item, the null item thing seems to be a running problem with random buff as people have been sending their exception logs in their bug reports. so far with my testing to see what caused the glitch, nothing has happened. the glitch was happening after random buff was disabled, so something happened to a different mod. sorry if I caused any concern, I was talking to a friend about it when we came to the conclusion that random buff had some problem with a different mod, still haven't found it yet or had the glitch but it isn't any of the slugpup mods I have

@RandomLynxInBeanie, hmm I'm not sure what would cause that. Thank you for letting me know about it. If it happens again, could you check your Rain World folder for an exception log? It generates when there is an error. That can help explain what caused the problem.

@Turquoise Cat I'll keep it in mind. I had decided to try the mod before your answer and I might have encountered a bug, but idk if it's because of this mod or not. the bug is that sometimes when I shelter with a slugpup and start a new cycle, the game seems to break and display a red shelter, and I don't think it's the one I slept in cause it doesn't seem to be facing the right way. so far this has only happened in shaded, chimney canopy and subterranean. the only other slugpup mods I have enabled are Pups+, pup karma and Slugpup Safari (I did have a promblem with Slugpup Safari I need to tell the devs about actually, but idk if it has anything to do with this bug)

@RandomLynxInBeanie, Don't worry! That's a very fair question. I have not specifically updated the mod to work with Watcher 1.5. I briefly tested it and everything seems to still be working, but I was not very thorough. I can't guarantee that something won't break.
