Athenic-Class Ocean Liners

Here is the Athenic-Class liners of the White Star Line!

The class included 3 ships that were designed for White Star's Liverpool to New Zealand routes, Athenic herself, Corinthic, and Ionic. During World War 1, the 3 ships were used as troopships (Corinthic being converted later in the war in 1917), with Athenic and Ionic being used by the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. All 3 ships survived the war and served successful post war careers. In 1928, Athenic was sold to a Norwegian company and used as the whaling ship Pelagos. She was the only ship in the class to see World War 2, being torpedoed and sunk in 1944. Her wreck was refloated after the war, and she served a few more years before being scrapped in the early 1960s. Corinthic had the shortest career of the 3, being scrapped in 1931, while Ionic was sold to Shaw, Savill & Albion Line after White Star merged with Cunard and was scrapped in 1936.
