Karl Gotch

Known as 'Kamisama' (God of Wrestling) in Japan, Karl Gotch is regarded as a revolutionary figure in Japanese Wrestling.

Training the likes of Antonio Inoki, Akira Maeda, Minoru Suzuki, Tatsumi Fujinami, Barry Darsow, Satoru Sayama, and Yoshiaki Fujiwara among many others, Gotch's approach to traditional Catch Wrestling helped lay the foundations for what would become the popular Strong Style in Japan.

Perhaps Gotch's most-underrated accolade was having the honor of taking part in the first card promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling. In the headline match of the upstart promotion's card, Gotch took on former student Antonio Inoki on March 6th, 1972; ushering in a new era of Puroresu in the land of the rising sun.
