Description: It is almost five billion years in the future. The sun is nearing the end of its life, and what was once a world filled with life is now entirely barren and so hot that it would make Kanklith seem like a paradise. And yet, life still persists.

This strange creature is the last complex lifeform, maybe even the last of all lifeforms, to exist on Earth. It is unclear what it evolved from, although five billion years is such a long time that literally anything could have spawned this freak of nature. For all we know, there could have been a mass extinction so destructive that it wiped out all life on Earth, save for a few primitive single-celled organisms, meaning that life would have had to reset itself from scratch. Others believe that these creatures didn't even originate from Earth, and that at one point in the distant past, Earth was colonized by aliens, and these are the distant descendants of those who colonized it.

Despite its unusual appearance, it is actually a very efficient creature. Perhaps the most efficient creature to ever evolve. With a metallic exoskeleton to protect it from the heat and radiation that would basically microwave any other creature, six large, powerful wings to enable it to glide effortlessly through the scorching skies, two mouths that can crush prey and eat plants at once and compound eyes to give it extremely good eyesight, it's no wonder this creature survived until the very end. It can even perform limited photosynthesis using something on its back that is either a strange, light-collecting organ or the last plant on Earth. They probably have another ten million years left to live, but there is a slim yet possible chance of them becoming a space-faring species and traveling to other worlds to survive even longer within those ten million years.
