gm_brutalist_desolation

A massive concrete facility looms over your head... left abandoned many years before the seven hour war. Its a remnant of an old classified Soviet project, the purpose of which has been lost to time. The high altitude and strong concrete made it impossible for any Xen wildlife to colonise the area, and thus it seems the Combine empire saw fit to start constructing and expanding their network in this save haven, most likely as a strategic position for further expansion north-east into the siberian wastelands. It seems however, that even this project was abandoned not long after construction had started. Now all that remains are the remnants of two cruel empires, with both having failed to take root and grow here.

this is a LARGE map thats mainly meant for exploration, but you can also do some nextbot runs, and just good old gmod goofing around! however there is no navmesh yet so keep that in mind.
As it turns out, its also pretty fun to do hide-and-seek here, i do suggest blocking off the highway area and beyond if it gets too big.
Also, some areas might need a flashlight since i have an obsession with moody lighting.
It is NOT recommended to NOCLIP untill you're done exploring the map on foot, there are some minor scripted events but most importantly you'll lose a lot of the immersion.


COPYRIGHT INFO FOR ANYONE WANTING TO RECORD AND UPLOAD:
this map includes a track from half-life titled "Black Mesa Inbound"
I dont really know if this song is copyrighted, but in case it is, i suggest putting your music volume slider to zero.
Also, if you feature my map in a video i'd appreciate a link to this page in the description. if you dont, im not the type of person to go after you for that, but it would be nice if you did!

the general atmosphere of the map was largely inspired by polish surrealist artist zdzislaw beksinski (rest in peace)
I also really wanted to make a map after i watched a couple of The Librarian's gmod exploration videos, i suggest you check him out as his videos are great! (also, huge thanks to Dylan Packard for featuring this map and gm_corpus_memorae in his new map gm_indoorspaces, i highly recommend checking his stuff out as its safe to say he's one of the best map creators around right now, dare i say even the greatest)
