Missile Visual Overhaul

I was never satisfied with the vanilla game's missile trail effects, which was just a bland blue trail, and sometimes difficult to see..... so i went and tried to make a new effect and replace the default game's missile trail, and this is the end result.

what does this mod change

it changes the missile trail effects for all missile types, and is compatible with mods such as VRO *as long* as the mod calls back on one of the vanilla trail effects.

what does this mod NOT change

explosion/impact effects, missile stats and gameplay, this mod is purely visual, its safe to install and remove at any time.

A note for mod creators

If you install this mod and wish for your custom missile to use my trail effects, simply call back to one of the vanilla effects for missiles and the mod will do its work.

However, if you want your missile to use a different effect, you will want to make your own trail effect.

if the mod uses the vanilla effect it will change it. even my granny understood

Unfortunately changing the missile explosion effects would require editing every single missile of the vanilla game, and subsequently every missile VRO has since there are a number of different effect entries they call back to.

unlike trails which all use the same single effect, its a lot harder to make a compatibility friendly replacer mod.

Maybe someday i will try my hand at it, but currently im busy with modding other stuff (custom ship n weapons) so it doesn't have priority
