Hielran Missile Frigate Refit

"Due to their abundance within the ECN navy many Hielran Light Frigates were continually upgraded with new weapons to cut down on costs of fielding entirely new vessels. One such modification developed for use by the ECN was the Hielran Missile Frigate. After seeing the success the SRG had with their new missiles deployed from both fighters and capital ships the ECN like many others wanted their own missile system. However internal bickering between the states of the confederation stalled the program and left it without the resources to devlop extremely advanced missiles like those of the SRG. Nonetheless the program persevered and produced the Bolt multi-murpose missile. The Bolt was less advanced than other missiles such as the ASCM or CASM used by the SRG but was also cheaper. Bolt missiles were loaded into single use deck launchers attached to ships which also made retrofitting old ships with the new missiles easier. However this drastically reduced the number of missiles a ship could carry and thus fire in combat, with new missiles needing to be loaded at a port of service ship."
