What is this then?
RnR Mycology is (going to be) a deep dive into mushroom foraging and cultivation. Yes, it's a very niche mod for a very niche interest, and it's very much WIP right now.

Features
Current:
  • A wide range of gourmet, poison, medicinal and active mushrooms to find with the vanilla foraging system
  • Recognisable icons for each species
  • A skill-based identification system
  • Can be cooked in many vanilla recipes, cooked alone or eaten raw
  • Can be composted when rotten
  • Lootable Mycology skillbooks
  • Forageable at most times of the year except midsummer and midwinter
  • More commonly found after rain, in spring and autumn
  • Balanced and tested in multiplayer
  • Should seamlessly slide into an existing save/server
Planned:
  • Additional gourmet, medicinal, poisonous and active mushrooms, and truffles!
  • Recognisable 3d models and textures for each genus and species
  • New recipes
  • A detailed cultivation system with skill-based progression through cultivation teks
  • Growing mycelium from spores and fruit clones on agar plates (lootable and craftable)
  • Autoclaving, pasteurisation and sterile lab work
  • Grow tents and lights
  • Humidity and temperature management
  • The supplies you need to maintain your culture library and grow your mushrooms
  • Preparation of medicinal tinctures and MDs
  • An extremely rare and difficult to craft single-dose Knox Infection antidote (endgame bite insurance) - optional
  • Medicinal effects
  • Psychedelic effects (trip balls!) Remember set and setting, as a bad trip in the apocalypse could be fatal...
  • Isolation of Penicillium fungus for antibiotics
  • Badger and snake plushies for fellow fans of 2008 memes

Known Issues

Release Notes
2023.4
  • Removes vanilla mushrooms from the foraging tables. If you can't find any mushrooms after starting a new save in midsummer... they don't appear in midsummer! Watch Life and Living!
  • Fixes the erroneous tooltip on Mycology skillbooks.
  • Fixes the transparency on icons.
  • Adds initial Spanish translation - gracias @Vasher
  • Adds a small stress debuff to unidentified mushrooms. As the saying goes: pick one for you and one for the coroner.
  • Adds item translations for future i18n support.

I'm really excited to hear that the B42 version is gonna work with Sapph's cooking! :) I wish there was a patch that'd let me use both for B41, but it is what it is, and I look forward to this mod's bright future. ^_^

Note we"ve spoken to Sapph and we understand the root of the issue with other food mods. We're setting the b42 build up to work with SapphCooking, and provide a toggleable option for vanilla mushrooms to allow other mods to work normally.

Update: We're working on a b42 version of the mod with new features. Due to b42's changes, we can't easily support both versions, so here's our plan:

* This mod stays as-is for b41 until b42 stable release
* Development continues on a separate unlisted b42 DEV version
* Once b42 is stable with multiplayer, we'll update this mod for b42 only
* If someone wants to maintain a b41 version, we're open to discussing a repository fork

We're still monitoring your suggestions - all welcome, no promises.

I love this mod so very much. We should have spawn bags/sacks and spore prints, liquid cultures and spore syringes, sterile technique lab equipment or PF tech the works. I'll help if I can. Love it!
