Shadow render base on model, game render model first and then shadow, they both animate as you play. You can think shadow effect is like PC render 60 pictures per second. Therefore the workload would increases exponentially as you use more detailed model.
3. Personal opinion about gaming PC, your Intel Core i3 with 8 GB RAM is more than enough for highest graphic (in regular gameplay, without any mod), however i don't know your GPU but i think it's not so weak to make FPS falls below 30.
L4D2 released in 2009, now is 2024, do you realize how old it is? Intel Core i3 was once a standard for gaming PC, it's not for 2017 and later game but L4D2 is definately OK.
If you have Ryzen 5 5600G Processor and 16 GB RAM, you can even play Call of Duty Warzone, Ghostrunner, Dying Light, Naraka,... not best graphic but 60 FPS guaranteed.
I always leave a link to original mod, have you tried them?
I hope i make myself clear when i say i can't help you. I have no rights nor abilities to help you. I have this discuss with you so we can find the cause of your problem, you can enjoy my mod while i have more knowledge. That's my passion and responsibility.
2. I know what i'm doing and what i upload to public. My mod arn't perfect, but i never upload anything that i've never tried. Still, like stated above, i might have no problem with my mod but that does NOT mean my mod can't cause trouble, and finding it is something i rely totally on you since only you have this problem so far.
That is why i have been telling you to test, not this mod, but your PC.
1. Computers are science. Like how a doctor can't remotely perform a surgery, i can't have a gasp of what happened when you use my mod. Your computer could be running many background application like antivirus, screen wallpaper, cleaning service, or other service that affect the game directly like GPU setting, ReShade mod or screen filter. I also don't know how long have you been using your PC, how many application was installed, how you configure Windows and app setting.
Moreover, i don't know in what condition you tested my mod and came to your conclusion. Try my GEN-12, or original Animal33's GEN-12; try in official map or community map; try this mod alone or along with other mod; try this mod with graphic setting; try mod after reloading map, or after restarting game, or after restarting PC; try other mod (from me or others) while NOT using my GEN-12.
