Re the fix, I just need the brainspace to stress test the fix and publish it. I'm pretty certain I've figured out how to verbally corner the game engine into always finding what I need it to, but it's hard to say. Work has been stealing almost all of that for the past month... I want to say I'll have it published soon, but there's always that pesky "tm" floating around
The slightly more complex answer is that it's related to inconsistencies in how people model weapons, specifically in which and how many view LODs they use. Some weapon models only have 1 view level of detail, and others have like.... 5 or more. But there are also labeling inconsistencies, so even if ITN tells the game to search in the highest detail LOD, whether it's number 0, 1, or something else varies, and can trip up the search function.
