The brother of the Lancer attack submarine, the smaller Vanguard class was designed for scouting duty. Unusually, it carries no battery backup, instead carrying a full medical fabrication suite. Though this means that a constant eye must be kept on the fuel rod stores, many crews appreciate the ability to manufacture medical supplies mid-trip, greatly improving the chances of survival.
