Divided Island of Skjorrnvald-Sczokroz [Map]

a fictional island in the arctic Region. off the coast of Scandinavia. in the Western World it is named Skjornnvald
the East Refers to it as Sczokorz.

once simply known as the Island of Skjorrnvald settled by the Vikings in the 10th Century, belonging to the Kingdom of Norway and then later Sweden, it was invaded and half of the island was Occupied by the Russians in the late 17th Century during the northern wars.
in the early 20th Century the island is still divided by two small nations
the Western half is ruled by the "Insulaner Duchy" the Eastern Half is governed by the "Ostrovian Republic"
the River that divides the Island has only one bridge in the center and is fortified on both banks of the River. Conflicts Break out regularly but due to the weather and lack of Reliable Shipments form the outside due to the Icebergs off the coast, neither locality can overtake the other. however the Islands Strategic location has drawn attention form the United States, and the Soviet Union
